The Edmonton Elks are not being honest with their fans.

It seems like a day doesn't go by when I don't read some CFL chat group online that brings up the rumour about the Edmonton Elks changing their name back to the Eskimos. Rumours that they "couldn't get it done" in time for the 2025 schedule, or that "the CFL requires the new owner to own the team for 1 year before being allowed to change the name", seem to be repeated all over the internet. Sports writers tweeting that the name is coming back is something we see more and more.
Aug 15th 2024 was the day the new owner took over. That means IF they are changing the name back, we are less than a month away. We know the Elks recently trademarked the "Edmonton Eskimos" name. We know they put the name back on the fire truck. The old sign is back above the locker room. If fans are not confused, I imagine the players are. Tre Ford was never an Eskimo.

The team is struggling this year. The rumours are not doing the team any favours, and it is not fair to fans. It is time Chris Morris comes clean and makes a statement one way or another. A clear statement that "This team will forever be known as the Edmonton Elks, there is no way we are changing the name back. The Eskimos are history".
The fans deserve nothing less. There are people spending hard earned money right now buying clothing that says "Elks". There are others that are hoping that the name will be going back....they really believe it. It is time for the Elks to settle it ONCE AND FOR ALL.
Do you know how stupid fans will feel that bought "Elks" clothing only for the team to go BACK?

The team is not honest with its fans. They need to make a statement. NOW.

What is the name going forward, Elks or Eskimos ? What will it be Larry and Chris?

It feels like the team is not being honest with fans right now.

Alberta should look at public car insurance.

Moving to Alberta from Manitoba was a major wake up call when it came to car insurance. In Manitoba, you walk into an office at Manitoba Public Insurance with your proof of ownership and a car safety and within 10 mins you are out with an insurance policy. The government of Manitoba mandates that you must have car insurance and liability, and they provide it for you.  In Alberta, you have to look at private options.

First, you have to find a broker.....not hard there are lots of them around. Then you have provide a little history, no big deal, and then the broker "shops around" for the best deal. Then you basically sign on the dotted line with that private company and away you go. What is wrong with that you ask? Well first of all, you are basically at the mercy of private companies. There is no regulation....no one stopping them from denying you for any reason. Had a bad credit history because you were fighting cancer and got behind on bills? Sorry, too bad, we need the whole year up front. Have 4 people with drivers licences in your home that never drive your car? Too bad, you have to pay more because they might have "access" to it....and you will need to provide all their info too. That roommate you have with a bad driving record is now costing you more for car insurance.

We know Alberta loves corporations over people, and corporate profits are a religion here, but since people do not like their pockets books affected, they should considering having a public option for car insurance. Manitoba Public Insurance even refunds people if there are a low amount of claims, and as you have more years go by without a claim, rates actually go DOWN, not up. Students or people with no driving history are not punished in Manitoba like they are in Alberta. It is crazy how much young people have to pay for car insurance.

You will find no shortage of people who have "horror stories" of the public insurance in BC and are "so thankful" for Alberta's system....those likely didn't get their way in a accident claim...in Alberta you can sue people for ridiculous things. Driving a car with a coffee and someone bumps into you and you spill coffee on you? Well there is $10,000 for "soft tissue damage" or some other crap. In Manitoba, that would not fly at all.

If the government is going to mandate car insurance and liability, then they should be the ones providing the service....not for profit corporations that can take advantage. People in Alberta don't like Ottawa "taking advantage" of Alberta, but if you are foreign for profit insurance company....by all means, come and milk the people for all you can get. It is exhausting.
