Lethbridge Mayor Blaine Hyggen using Taxpayer dollars to promote himself in advance of election.

 

Yep, nothing to see here.....just Lethbridge Mayor Blain Hyggen using taxpayer dollars to host a Mayor's Community BBQ and feed "up to 1000 people" for Free at City Hall....just before an election. 

But it gets better. Visitlethbridge.com, AKA the Lethbridge real estate mafia is sponsoring a concert on his behalf, and bringing in Stampede star Chanse Vigen who is also sponsored by the Lethbridge real estate mafia to bring in the crowd to the mayors promotional BBQ. 

Nothing like a greasy politician pulling every trick in the book to promote himself on the taxpayers dime. I could do an entire post on how he plays the Christian community like a fiddle for votes in this town. His parents were mormons, and he plays that card despite not being an active mormon, and then the rest of the Christians think he is an born again Christian when there is zero evidence that he is....he only gets religious come election time, its that time every 4 years he will start popping into churches I am sure. His wife's facebook page tells you just how "Christian" they are, let alone mormon....which is laughable. 

We have to ask ourselves why does the Lethbridge Lodging Association, who runs VisitLethbridge.com so interested in throwing their support and money behind promoting this mayor? 

The Lethbridge Lodging Association represents about 70% of the hotel owners in Lethbridge. But there is so much more to it. Those owners not only own hotels....they have massive interests in other real estate and restaurants across the city. This is a group that bullies city hall to have tax dollars put towards tourism....to bring business to their hotels. The real estate mafia have tried to interfere with the Tourism Lethbridge budget in the past, going as far as telling them how to spend taxpayer dollars. Tourism Lethbridge is basically a group that is bullied and controlled by the Lodging association. 

The hotel owners will tell the city how much business they get each year and how much they bring to the city. So what? That doesn't mean they need taxpayer dollars to stay afloat. The City throws massive amounts of money at events.....if they can fill hotel rooms. They have the mayor in their pocket, and I am sure much of council is in their pocket too. You would be shocked at what money city hall would throw at you if you put on an even that would draw a few hundred people to Lethbridge. 

At the end of the day, Blaine Hyggen is bought and paid for. He is not the mayor of the people of Lethbridge, only the real estate/business crowd.
